It's with both a heavy heart and a glimmer in my eye that I leave WorkSafe this week.
A short 3-month contract has grown into 15 fabulous months working across the Fatalities and Compensation teams. Along the way I've been privileged to meet plenty of great people - rising stars and seasoned veterans alike.
I've learnt a lot at WorkSafe. Sitting at desk jobs has sheltered me from the realities of Victorian working life.
There are plenty of hazardous workplaces and vulnerable workers out there - and after spending most of my WorkSafe tenure with the Fatalities team, I've seen how dire the results can be.
WorkSafe's job is to protect every Victorian worker from harm. The Victorian public deserve nothing less, and I'm proud of the work I've done - particularly in the world of COVID-19 fatalities at workplaces - which I hope has contributed to that vision in some small way.
I have to commend the Fatalities and Compensation teams for doing a job that can be pretty thankless and very heavy sometimes.
So what's next for me? I'm off to State Trustees, where I get to join a new team in a Consultancy-type role and add a few strings to my vocational bow.
Until then - fare well, work safe.
